Hotel in Lekki Lagos | The Mayhill Hotel Review

Hotel in Lekki Lagos | The Mayhill Hotel Review

Mayhill Hotel is a modern boutique hotel in Lekki Lagos, Nigeria. While in Lagos I stayed in Mayhill Hotel for 3 nights, I have both positive and negative information to pass on and here is my review. I have locals and December returnees in mind for this hotel as it is quite new and modern. If you have no affiliation to Nigeria but want to visit West Africa, I personally recommend Ghana for your trip.

General Information

Mayhill hotel is a boutique hotel based in Lekki. The hotel features a bar, a terrace, a restaurant, room service and a shared lounge, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The hotel provides an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, evening entertainment and a 24-hour front desk.

The Room & Price

We booked a deluxe/executive room and a single room for 3 night for £292 at the Mayhill Hotel.

The deluxe room was a large room and the single room was a decent size. Both rooms have a TV, fridge, tea making facilities and the bathrooms were clean!

On Booking.com it said the rooms have Netflix and Hulu on the TV but I did not use it so I can’t confirm if it was there!

Another note is that we had mosquitoes, we told the front desk and they gave us SNIPER. That is a fumigation product and no one should be around for that. My mum complained and they went to buy proper mosquito spray!

Cleanliness

The hotel was generally clean. The room and bathroom was very clean too! I have no complaints here.

Safety

I felt generally safe at the hotel. There is always security and you can’t park inside unless you have a pass or say you have a booking.

I do need to highlight that there was an incident where the front desk accidentally gave someone else our room number card meaning they used it to open our door only to see it was occupied. They were as confused as we were,  My mum was ANGRY!!. The front desk apologised and sorted it out as a mistake on their part. Honestly that is quite scary because anything can happen if someone has access to your room and you are alone but they did rectify it.

Food

I only ate once in the hotel and that was chicken pepper soup. Honestly I really like the way they spruced it up and gave me bread roll. The restaurant had a cute flower wall I loved, although it was a little small. I did have breakfast as part of my room price but I did not wake up in time during my stay to try it.

The Rooftop and Open Spaces

I think the rooftop is very nice but since it is open to the public, Friday to Saturday can be loud at night as it is the weekend. If you want to avoid that ask for a room furthest away from the rooftop bar.

Customer Service

When I initially arrived to check in, the POS was not working for me but the person serving me was very relaxed and eventually brought out another one for me to use to pay and it worked. They responded to all our disappointments quite professionally and I have no complaints about customer service funny enough because I am always bashing customer service in Nigeria.

Final Thoughts

I enjoyed my stay in the Mayhill Hotel in Lekki Lagos. The room and hotel was clean, comfy and affordable. The things that I am disappointed in is the giving of Sniper spray and the hotel key card incident. I have not seen anyone else mention this in reviews online so hopefully this was a one off. Honestly I would book again here with a friend but not solo because of the incidents thats happened. I was impressed because they rectified everything so quickly so would give it another chance.
